Curricular Policies
* As reflected in our evaluation procedures, active participation is the key to success within this course. As a result any absences need to be communicated to the teacher. Only a doctor’s note will be accepted as documentation to support a missed evaluation (skill test, fitness test, health test or culminating activity.)
* All students must change into proper gym attire in order to participate in physical education. Running shoes, shorts/sweatpants and a t-shirt are minimum requirements. Dressing appropriately supports the expectations outlined in the active living strand related to safe participation in physical activities in the curriculum. Failure to change could result in the inability to participate fully in the lesson.
* If a student has legitimately been absent from a class then they are eligible to attend a remedial fitness circuit class in the small gym at the beginning of lunch on Wednesday. Students must fill out a remedial form following the class to ensure proper documentation.
* Please review Etobicoke C.I. Student Agenda for full description and expectations on homework, attendance, tardiness, missing/ late assignments, assessments, course modifications, and academic honesty and student behaviour.
Things to remember
* Success in physical education at Etobicoke is directly linked to the following attitudinal and behavioral attributes:
- Attendance - Attitude -Effort - Active Participation -Co-operation - Respect - Positive Communication
Focus and mastery of these fundamental principles will ensure success.
* We strongly recommend that all students leave valuable items in a secure and safe place AWAY from the gym and change room area.
