Building
Mathematical Minds

A series of Math workshops to empower TDSB parents and caregivers with the knowledge and confidence to foster a positive math learning environment at home for their child(ren).

A Message to you all:

Hello parents, caregivers, students, and community partners,

Thank you so much for your participation and interest in the Building Mathematical Minds series.

My name is Donna Cardoza, and I serve as a Community Support Worker in Learning Centre 3. The role of the Community Support Worker is to foster authentic relationships within our school community, engaging with parents, caregivers, and community partners. We believe in the power of listening – listening to your concerns, ideas, fears, hopes, dreams, and even your wish list for your child's educational journey. I have had many valuable conversations with parents and caregivers, through which the Building Mathematical Minds series was created.

Building Mathematical Minds explores strategies and tools designed to enhance your child's math skills. Math can sometimes feel like a daunting subject, both for students and their parents. However, by understanding how our children learn math and by equipping ourselves with effective support strategies, we can empower them to succeed and thrive in this critical area of study.

Thank you to our dedicated team of school administrators, math coaches, and teachers who are supporting us all through this learning.

At the end of each session, our hope is that you will leave with one thing you can do to support your child in Math, whether it's a strategy, a resource, a provocation, an activity, or just conversation. Every small action leads to building mathematical minds and curiosity, and it all contributes to achievement, well being, engagement and belonging.

I would like to  assure you that we are here to support you every step of the way. Together, we can make a significant difference in your child's mathematical journey. Let's embark on this journey together, united in our dedication to building mathematical minds and empowering our children for a bright and successful future.
