Happy Beginning of the school year! I look forward to working with your child to develop their musical skills over the year. To do so, it is important for students to be aware of the music procedures in place. Thank you for taking the time to visit this site and should you have questions, please see me for further clarification. MUSIC MARTIAL ARTS: Over the year, students will be working on their "performance belts." They will be given a tracking sheet that will be signed by the teacher every time they are able to complete a belt challenge. Students work their way from white belt to black. Their mastery of skills is dependent on their commitment to practice and effort. Music Martial Arts not only work on specific skills, but teaches students the importance of perserverance, focus and discipline. -- Mrs. Hugh-Tomsic

In the band class there are a variety of instruments that your child can choose to play. They include:
Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet, Trombone, Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, Baritone, Tuba and Percussion
The instrument in bold require mouthpieces. If you need to purchase a mouthpiece for your child, please refer to the Rental Information/Supplies page for available vendors who sell these. Note that the size of mouthpiece you will need for the brass instruments are: Trumpet 7C and Trombone 12C. Please forward any further questions to the Band Teacher.
FOUNDATION IS KEY! As we progress through the year, it is important to build on note reading skills. Below are some ways to review note names to help with note reading fluency.
EXTRA HELP TIMES: Wednesday after school from 3:10 to 4:00 pm or by appointment with the teacher
SIGN OUT OF INSTRUMENTS: Monday, Wednesday, Friday- after school - All instruments must be returned the next school day
