For students entering grade 11, CTA offers an exciting enhanced high school experience through our Social Entrepreneurship Specialist High Skills Major Program (S.H.S.M.). This is a Ministry-approved program that will help build your resume and provide you with numerous industry-recognized training opportunities (First Aid, CPR, leadership, networking, event planning, etc.) and a hands-on co-op placement of your choice. You graduate with a red seal on your diploma. Students also have the opportunity to participate in our annual venture. Past projects include partnerships with fashion icon Sully Wong, Bata Shoe Museum, NOGU Jewellery design, and Woodpecker Jackets.
Key Information:
Students join the Business S.H.S.M program in grade 11.
NOT just for students interested in Business. We offer training and skills certification that can be easily transferable to whatever profession you choose.
Students graduate with a red seal on their diploma.
Training and certifications that you can list on your resume include: CPR and First Aid, Events Management, Public Speaking, Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship (ICE) Training, Social Media and Promotions, Leadership Development and many others.
Mentorship via co-op placement. Our Business S.H.S.M partners include The Royal Bank of Canada, Got Style, Sully Wong, University of Toronto, George Brown, Humber College, York University and many more connections.
The Business SHSM Program helps students better prepare for life in a changing world. Students will develop leadership, management, teamwork and problem-solving skills with this unique experience.
Participation in our annual CTA product development project. Past projects include Wolf-sneaker, 3D-Jewelry, Winter boot and Wolf-Back Pack.
Basic Requirements:
Students need to select 4 elective courses (in grade 11 or 12) from the S.H.S.M course bundle. Choices include Graphic Design, Law, Leadership, Anthropology, Psychology & Sociology, Computer Science, Marketing, and many others.
2 co-op credits (during regular school year or summer school).
