Physical Health and Education Courses
In Ontario, all students must take a Physical Education course to graduate. At CTA, most students fulfill this requirement with the Grade 9 Healthy and Active Living course, which combines gym and field activities with classroom lessons on topics like nutrition, mental health, substance use, and safe sexuality.
After Grade 9, students can choose from a variety of specialized courses, including Basketball, Volleyball, Fitness, or continued Healthy and Active Living. Fitness and Healthy and Active Living are available as co-ed or female-only options. All courses balance physical activity with classroom instruction on health and wellness.
We also offer two classroom-based courses:
Leadership (PLF4M): A hands-on course that develops leadership skills through experiential learning, collaboration, and school/community involvement.
Introduction to Kinesiology (PSK4U): Ideal for students interested in fields like Kinesiology, Nursing, or Life Sciences, this course covers anatomy, biomechanics, energy systems, and more, with opportunities for lab-based learning.
Whatever your interests, CTA’s Physical Education program offers something for everyone!
