The Advanced Placement Program (AP) enables willing and academically prepared students to earn Ontario high school university level credits while also covering first-year university content.
At CTA we offer a STEM-focused AP program starting in grade 11 (students will indicate interest in the program during the course selection period of their grade 10 year). Curriculum learning is supported by course work delivered by a CTA teacher, but also through rich on-line resources developed by the College Board.
The AP component of the courses culminate with an AP exam in early-May of the grade 12 course. (Current cost associated with each exam is CAD 140.00.)
The SHSM programs allow students to gain credits toward their Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) and focus their learning on a specific economic sector at the same time. Students who complete the SHSM program earn a Red Seal on their OSSD. CTA offers Business SHSM and Sports SHSM programs.
Program entry is by student interest, decision in January of grade 10, with program starting in grade 11.
Our Business SHSM (nicknamed 6IX Academy) focuses on social entrepreneurship and challenges students to solve pressing social, cultural, and environmental issues with the goal of making a positive change in the world.
