Ms. Ní Threasaigh has worked with the Toronto District School Board as an English/Literacy/Media and Student Success teacher for over two decades and has been a Curriculum Leader (Department Head) for 12 of those years. Her Bachelor of Arts is in Creative Writing, Psychology and Indigenous Studies and she holds specialist qualifications in English and Adolescent Literacy; basic qualifications in Indigenous Studies; and additional qualifications in Media Studies, ESL, Library, Guidance, and Special Education. Before becoming a high school teacher, Ms. Ní Threasaigh worked in recreation (as a lifeguard swimming/diving coach, swimming/diving/CPR/First Aid and dance instructor/choreographer, and personal trainer) and in daycare and before and after school child care. She is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Social Justice Education and Languages and Literacies Education with a Collaborative Specialization in Educational Policy on a fully funded fellowship at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto; where she also works as a Research Assistant for Dr. Megan Boler on an SSHRC-funded project entitled "Affective Media, Social Movements, and Digital Dissent: Emotions and Democratic Participation in the 'Post-Truth' Era". Her research interests exist at the intersections between critical multiliteracies, technology, citizenship, and social and environmental justice. Her dissertation is a Critical Policy Analysis of the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Graduation Requirement (OSSLT/OSSLC).
