CLASSROOM SAFETY

We know that when it comes to teaching science and technology, hands-on, inquiry-based learning is key to student engagement.

Ensuring student safety should be at the forefront of any good science and technology program. At a minimum, this means developing a safety plan that considers:

• the set-up and tidiness of your learning environment
• age-appropriate tool selection and regular tool maintenance
• Effective use of signage to increase awareness of safety concerns in your space
• consistent use of protective goggles and clothing where necessary
• age-appropriate use of scientific instruments
