International Day of Persons with Disabilities

Equality vs Equity

Equality - everyone starts or is given the same

Equity - everyone is given what they need to succeed

Fairness is giving everyone what they need to succeed - it is not always the exact same!

“Sometimes we can see individuals’ differences and sometimes we can’t.”

Invisible Disabilities:

  • Physical (inside)

  • Emotional & Mental

  • Neurological conditions

Can limit or challenge a person’s movements, senses, or activities

Can impact that person’s ability to learn or work.

The Junior/Intermediate classes explored reading a passage that simulates how a student with a learning disability might feel when reading in class. Click the link to learn more about supporting students with Diverse Learning Needs.

Diversity is Beautiful

We are all different and we should all recognize and appreciate our differences.
