Advanced Placement (AP) is a program which offers university-level curricula and examinations to high school students. Many colleges and universities grant placement and course credit to students who obtain high scores on AP examinations. The AP curriculum for each of the various subjects is created for the AP College Board by a panel of experts and university level educators.
AP accreditation is recognized internationally and many universities grant course credit and advanced program placement for students who score well on the AP examinations. Ninety percent of universities in North America and over sixty countries outside of North America recognize and provide course credit for successful AP exam results.
At Bloor CI AP Calculus AB is taken after Advanced Functions (Pre-AP), often but not always, second semester of Grade 11. This fast-tracking of mathematics will allow students to enroll in the calculus-based AP Physics C.
Our AP Calculus program develops rigour and application to a variety of fields of study for which an understanding of Calculus is critical. Advanced principles, techniques, and enriched programming ensure that students enjoy a distinct advantage upon entry into university study. We strive to incorporate a host of post-secondary guest speakers, participate in a variety of Mathematics learning environments outside our classroom, including regular visits to University lectures and labs, and other schools and classrooms.
