In the primary grades, students experience and explore the elements of music through singing, listening to, and moving to a variety of songs, rhymes, and chants. Their experiences should include a wide variety of recorded and live music. The Arts

September to November focuses on Beat, Pitch, Rhythm and Responding to Music. December to February focuses on Singing, Mood, and Creating. March to June focuses on Tempo, Volume, and Performing.

You can help at home by listening to a variety of music and songs and have your child sing along (pitch), clap or dance (beat and rhythm), and tell how the song made them feel (responding to music).
