There are 7 genes were annotated as alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) in A. baumannii. All of them were annotated as NAD+-dependent ADH. Three of them are iron-containing ADH and three of them are zinc-containg ADH. Only one of them are short-chain ADH. We are working on the elucidation of the function of all of those genes.

Given that A. baumannii is known to associate with plants, we propose that Zn-ADHs may acquire cinnamaldehyde derivatives from the plant host and convert them into cinnamyl alcohols, thereby contributing to lignin biosynthesis in the plant.
