Ms. Katerina Canter

Katerina Canter grew up in High Point, NC and is an alumnus of Penn-Griffin School for the Arts. While a student at PGSA, she played clarinet in Guilford County All-County Band and Orchestra, Central District All-District Band, and the NC All-State Band. Ms. Canter also toured the U.S. and Europe with the Greensboro Symphony Youth Orchestra as a violinist. 

Ms. Canter graduated from Converse College with a Master's in Music Education. While at Converse, Ms. Canter performed with the Converse College Wind Ensemble, Converse College Symphony Orchestra, Spartanburg Philharmonic Orchestra, and other chamber ensembles. Ms. Canter also graduated Summa Cum Laude from Mars Hill University with a Bachelor's degree in Music Education and a minor in Spanish. While at Mars Hill and Converse, Ms. Canter academic and musical achievements were recognized through memberships into Sigma Alpha Iota, Pi Kappa Lambda, and Alpha Chi.

Prior to her appointment at Rosman Middle and High Schools, Ms. Canter was the interim band director at Bethel Middle School, and spent a year teaching in Szombathely, Hungary. 

In August 2017, Ms. Canter was named the director for the Rosman Band Program. She feels it is truly an honor to conduct a band in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina. As its conductor and director of bands, Ms. Canter has led the bands to Superior ratings at North Carolina's Music Performance Adjudication and 1st place finishes at marching band competitions. In 2018, she was named Transylvania County Schools' Rookie of the Year. Ms. Canter is a member of the National Association for Music Education, the North Carolina Music Educators Association, and the North Carolina Bandmasters Association.
