Frequently Asked Questions
What services do you provide?
Classroom Guidance Lessons
I meet with each classroom approximately once every six weeks for guidance lessons. During the visit, I focus on a variety of topics such as empathy, healthy friendships, kindness, and respect.
Small Group Counseling
I facilitate several small counseling groups throughout the school year. The groups meet for 30 or 40 minutes and span for five to eight weeks. The topics are chosen based on student need. Examples of group topics include grief, changing families, and building resilience.
Individual Counseling
I can meet with students on a short-term basis for individual counseling for a variety of concerns. Please note that school-based therapists do not diagnose or treat psychological disorders. A referral to a clinical mental health therapist will be made, if needed.
How are school counseling referrals made?
Students may self-refer for school counseling services. I also accept referrals from parents and teachers using the following methods:
Phone Calls: 828-877-4481
Emails: arumfelt@tcsnc.org
In-Person Meeting at the school (please call in advance to schedule an appointment)
Can my child see a school-based therapist?

If you are interested in your child receiving this service, please contact Autumn Rumfelt at 828-877-4481 for a referral and to obtain registration forms.
