Many Grade 11 students appreciated reading Gyasi' s Homegoing in English class this year. Transcendent Kingdom is her follow-up novel; rather than following a generational narrative as in her first book, this story focuses on one specific young woman in a family which has immigrated from Ghana to Alabama.
