Hello! My name is Sandra Mello. I am a San Diego native. I attended San Francisco State University and received my BA in Liberal Studies with a minor in Spanish. I then completed a 2 year multiple subject credential program from the Bay Area Teacher Training Institute (BATTI) working as a first grade co-teacher at The Bentley School in Oakland, Ca.
In 2007, my husband and I joined the Peace Corps! We were placed in a small village in the Republic of Vanuatu located in the South Pacific. I was an early education literacy trainer for local teachers. I also lead sewing workshops and helped women entrepreneurs in my village sell their weaved baskets to tourists.
I returned to San Diego and taught 4th grade for three years in Logan Heights. In 2014, I was the long-term sub for Kindergarten at TCPS. In 2017, I returned as the 4th grade TCPS teacher.
In my free time I love to spend time with my husband, Dennis, and my two daughters, Reese and Millie (7th and 4th graders at TCPS). I also enjoy working on art projects, crafting, traveling, camping, and playing with our dog, Mochi.
We visited the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens and found some giant trolls!
