Hi! My name is Giovanna Spinosi and I am currently studying Biology and Secondary Special Education at The College of New Jersey. I've wanted to pursue teaching for as long as I can remember, so it is very exciting to be taking steps toward that. Along with teaching, I love science, specifically Biology. Combining these two, I am pursuing being a high school biology teacher that has an inclusive and effective learning environment as a classroom.
As much as I love learning about all of the intricacies of Biology and the human body, I understand that it can be very overwhelming to people who do not enjoy it, especially to high school students. Students are often turned off by the details of this science, preventing them from potentially finding a science they could be interested in. This page will go into detail about methods of teaching science topics that are applicable and relevant to students lives whether or not they pursue higher education in a STEM field, such as common disease, chromosomal mutations, environmental science, human development, and public health details that they may need to know as they continue in schooling and life. How we understand the world around us impacts the way we live and navigate it. Biology has so much valuable information, however it is imperitive that educators sort through the curriculum content to find the most relevant and effective information to share with high school students.
