TCET NEP SAARTHI
TCET NEP SAARTHI
The NEP SAARTHI (Student Ambassador for Academic Reforms in Transforming Higher Education in India) initiative by the University Grants Commission (UGC) aims to empower students to become change-makers in the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. SAARTHIs are student representatives who promote awareness, gather feedback, and assist in implementing NEP-driven reforms across higher education institutions.
The purpose of appointing NEP SAARTHIs is to foster a student-led movement that ensures meaningful implementation of the National Education Policy 2020 across campuses.
SAARTHIs represent the voice of the student body, ensuring that reforms are not only top-down but also student-driven and inclusive. Their purpose is to create awareness, build engagement, and act as catalysts for academic transformation within their institutions.
By involving students directly in the process of educational reform, this initiative builds leadership, accountability, and a sense of ownership toward shaping India's higher education future.
The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 is a landmark initiative aimed at reshaping India’s education system to meet the demands of the 21st century. It envisions a shift from rote learning to holistic, value-based, and flexible education that empowers learners with critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills. NEP promotes multidisciplinary education, the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC), multiple entry/exit options, and a strong focus on skill development, allowing students to design academic journeys aligned with their interests and career goals.
Beyond academics, NEP 2020 also emphasizes inclusivity, equity, and lifelong learning. It encourages the use of regional languages, integrates vocational education across levels, and prioritizes foundational literacy and numeracy at the school level. The policy also aims to strengthen teacher training, improve research and innovation, and streamline higher education governance through the creation of institutions like the Higher Education Commission of India (HECI). NEP 2020 is not just a reform — it is a vision for building a future-ready, learner-centered, and globally relevant education ecosystem.
