BreakoutEDU is not really a current trend anymore, but it might be if you haven't heard of it. The spin-off from a physical breakout with a box is called a digital breakout.

What is a digital breakout you may ask?

A digital breakout was inspired by two teachers Justin Birckbichler and Mari Venturino. In these games, small groups of students search for clues in the form of hidden hyperlinks, images, and text on the game webpage. These clues may lead to puzzles that when solved, reveal the combinations to assorted digital locks on the game page. However, there are “red herrings” or "distractors" included in each game that will lead players on a wild goose chase if followed.
