Student work in pairs. Each of the students receives the identical set of LEGO bricks. Students sit or stand back to back so neither can see each other's LEGO bricks. Student A builds a structure and verbally gives instruction for the build to Student B. Finish and compare. Switch and try it again. I like to use only the bricks that will fit in the students hands. Activity is more mobile and if you have too many bricks, the activity tends to get bogged down.

Number and color of bricks is dependent on the age of your students.

Solo Cups

An inexpensive solution to fostering collaboration is to have your students try a variety of cup stacking challenges.

All you need are 6 cups, 4 pieces of string and 1 rubber band.
