At Notre Dame, our Communications Technology classes explore on various disciplines such as Graphic Design, Animation, Photography, Audio, Film/Video and Web Development. Students work with state-of-the-art equipment ranging from Apple iMacs to HD DSLR cameras and industry standard software such as the Adobe Creative Suite.
Students will use Adobe Animate CC for 2D animations and web advertisements, as well as simple interactive games, and Adobe After Effects CC for motion graphics and special effects.
Students working in Graphic Design employ a variety of techniques and software. Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign are some of the software used to design cartoon characters, iPhone apps, brochures, posters etc. The world of design is constantly evolving and can be found in every facet of our everyday lives.
Students working in Film and Video develop a thorough understanding of cinematic and narrative storytelling techniques. Working with full 1080p 24f high definition cameras and professional non-linear editing equipment, students create music videos, commercials and public service announcements.
Students will learn how to properly frame, compose and expose images. They will also learn manual operation techniques to achieve beautiful photographs. Students explore areas such as fashion photography, photo-journalism and ethical use of photography in advertising. Students also learn digital manipulation techniques using Adobe Photoshop.
