One thing you can do to prepare for grade 9 is come up with your plan to get to and from school. You might want to practice your route in the summer so you feel less nervous when school starts. If you are planning to take the TTC we have included the link to the TTC Route Planner.
Set an alarm clock to wake up
Consider taking a shower at night
Have your bag packed the night before
Make sure you put your presto card in your wallet the night before
Put your wallet where you will not leave without it in the morning
Prepare your lunch the night before
Finish your homework at night
Get enough sleep
Eat breakfast
Crowds are part of taking the TTC so if you do not like being in a crowd plan to leave a little bit earlier, or later, consider walking to a stop that is not right in front of your school, or wait for an emptier bus or subway
Delays on the TTC are out of your control, there is NOTHING we can do about it, except to be patient
Have a plan for what to do if you miss your stop
Know that if you are having trouble for any reason you can ask any TTC worker in a uniform for help
Walk with friends when possible
If you are on your own, walk where there are other people around
Consider not wearing your earphones so you are aware of who is around you
Do not wear expensive looking earphones
Do not carry expensive items or lots of cash
