The majority of admission decisions for Ontario secondary school (OUAC 101) applicants are released during three admission rounds, occurring in February, March and May. However, some earlier offers may also be made.

This is how it works:

  1. You will need to wait to obtain a Personal Identification Number / PIN from the Guidance Office.

  2. OUAC mails PINS to the school Guidance Office in November of each year.

  3. Guidance will SEND a message to all students when the PINS arrive.

  4. When you get your PIN you can now begin the application process.

  5. The application is completely electronic and on the OUAC website.

  6. You are allowed three program choices for A Base Application Fee: $150.

  7. Each Additional Choice Fee: $50/choice. These fees change each year and are published on the OUAC website.

Notes:

    • There is no fee for replacing a program choice with another program choice at the same university.

    • You may apply to as many Ontario universities as you wish; however, you are limited to a maximum of 3 program choices at any 1 university (including its affiliates). Some universities may further limit the number of programs you can apply to.

8. Your application is submitted once the application fee is paid and a reference number is given.

9. You should print off a copy of your payment receipt and your reference number.

10. Your application information will now be sent electronically to each program choice.

11. Your transcripts will also be electronically sent to each program choice via the OUAC site.

The OUAC website gives complete information on the application process and deadlines. Students are encouraged to read through the website thoroughly.

What transcript information do Ontario Universities use to determine if you will get an offer to a program?

For conditional early admission, an Ontario University will look at your grade 11 marks. If your grade 11 over-all average is VERY high you may get a conditional early offer to a program of your choice pending your required 6 U/M grade 12 course marks and that you meet all other program and graduation requirements. Many programs do no send out any early admission offers. Programs that are GRADES+ and require a portfolio or an interview will not hand out conditional early offers. Students do not apply for a conditional early offer. The university will let you know if you qualify for a conditional early offer. If you have questions you should call the admissions office of the university.

For regular admission, an Ontario University will look at your semester 1 final marks and your semester 2 mid-term marks to determine if you will get a conditional offer to a program of your choice. Remember, all offers are conditional that you meet program and graduation requirements.

How can I can I get more information about Ontario Universities and their programs?

If you have a question about an Ontario University Program's requirements you should contact the University directly by calling or e-mailing their admissions office. All this information is on the University website.

Students are encouraged to visit the Ontario Universities Fair and consult The Ontario Universities info website for more information. This is an opportunity for students to meet with Representatives of each Ontario University and ask specific questions and get program information.

What must I do if I only came to Canada 2 years ago?

Anyone in Canada for less than 4 years will be required to write the IELTS or TOFL test before your application can be processed. Contact the university directly or email their admissions office for more information. The test should be completed by March 1st of your registration year.
