Community Service

Student who earn above and beyond their required 40 volunteer hours before graduation can earn a Minister’s Certificate of Recognition for Community Involvement. 

This certificate: 

• celebrates your dedication to helping others and recognizes your civic engagement, leadership and community spirit

• is optional and builds on the 40 hours you need to get your Ontario Secondary School Diploma

• is given to you during your graduation ceremony along with your Ontario Secondary School Diploma

• and is helpful when applying for jobs, college or university programs, apprenticeships & scholarships.

Deadline: April of your graduating year

In addition to the Minister's Certificate of Recognition for Community Involvement, students who reach the following milestones will be considered a Shamrock 49er:

• Grade 9's who earned 40+ hours

• Grade 10's who earned 150+ hours

• Grade 11's who earned 250+ hours

• In Grade 12 - earned 350+ hours

Shamrock 49er is exclusive to St. Patrick students. These students will receive the following:

• a banquet with a free catered lunch 

• an awards ceremony

• and certificate

• and awards ceremony at the start of June.
