Danielle Portillo: Using Artistic Expression to Understand Emotions

This workshop explores the empowerment involved in creative communication and artistic expression for children and youth. Artistic communication of emotions and ideas adds life to our environment and community by allowing our unique visions an avenue for communication. It also empowers us to be our authentic selves and not lose our thoughts and feelings in translation. Music, drawing, dancing, poetry, storytelling, figure creation, photography, etc. are beautiful ways to reduce anxious and depressive symptoms and increase self awareness, self purpose, and the dignity of each person.
