1. Choral Rehearsal Self-Assessment:
Choral Pedagogy Self-Analysis Videos (Parts 1 and 2)
Choral Pedagogy Self-Analysis
The three artifacts above originate from my Choral Pedagogy class. I was able to film myself working with my ensemble and write a reflection about it. The videos are montages of parts of rehearsal that I discuss in the text, with timestamps for ease of understanding. Because I am always in my own body, I find it important to take time to review what others see through my body language and overall demeanor.
2. Assessment Project:
High School Piano Class Assessment
The Assessment Project was created for my student teaching seminar. I created three different assessments. One takes the form of a traditional test, and utilizes outside resources such as Finale-created notation. The following assessment is a rubric I would use in my teaching of a 12-bar blues lesson in a piano class, where some students would accompany a soloist. The final page is dedicated to a checklist of proper piano posture for good and sustained bodily health. Assessment should be made to better the students being assessed instead of punishing them for not being up to a certain preconceived standard. I tried to create these assessment templates to better understand students.
3. Curriculum Projects:
Choral Curriculum
Music Technology Curriculum
Above are two curriculum projects I created. One followed the requirements of my Choral Pedagogy class, which prompted us to consider how we would program a concert in a student-centered way. The other was crafted for a hypothetical music technology class. I have worked in music technology for years, but my former high school did not offer more than a week-long Garageband unit. I took this opportunity to think about and create a plan to teach high schoolers about the vast music technology field, with a student-centered approach to their learning, while still teaching them the essentials of the trade.
4. Lesson Plans:
General Music Lesson Plan
Piano Class Lesson Plans
Instrumental Lesson Plans
Each of these lessons have the general end goal of greater appreciation and understanding of music. The general music lesson plan utilized a modified version of a template I found online. The instrumental lesson plans were created using my professor's lesson plan template. I find working with different templates to draw out different types of creative thought, so I hope to consistently redefine my materials, while still having a flow in my work.
