Sanford Biggers is a celebrated and world-renowned artist whose work has been displayed in many famous museum institutions, such as the Bronx Museum of Art, the Speed Art Museum, the California African American Museum, the Contemporary Art Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, the Chazen Museum of Art, the Brooklyn Museum, the Studio Museum the of Harlem, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Barnes Foundation, the Menil Collection, the Tate Modern, and many others.
From 2006 to 2011, he held the Professor of Sculpture & Expanded Media position at Virginia Commonwealth University. Subsequently, he served as an Associate Professor of Sculpture and New Genres at Columbia University's Visual Arts Department from January 2010 to January 2019. He has also been a visiting Artist/Professor of Sculpture at Harvard University since September 2009. Furthermore, he has been the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Visiting Professor and Scholar at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology since August 2020.
