Dr. James Rolling, Jr. was an Assistant Professor of Art Education at Pennsylvania State University from July 2005 to June 2007. Later, in 2007, he became a Dual Associate Professor/Chair of Art Education and eventually a Dual Professor/Chair of Art Education at Syracuse University. He is a leading figure within the National Art Education Association (NAEA) and served as its 37th President in 2021. He is also an accomplished writer who has significantly contributed to art education. Some of his published works include Cinderella Story: A Scholarly Sketchbook about Race, Identity, Barack Obama, the Human Spirit, and Other Stuff That Matters (Crossroads in Qualitative Inquiry), Discovering African American Art for Children (Come Look With Me), and Growing Up Ugly: Memoirs of a Black Boy Daydreaming.
