How Is 5G bad fOr our health?

Introduction:

I decided to study about what 5G is, how it works, how much it costs and if in the future it may cause any health issues, that might be serious or harmless. I am going to explain the different ways that this 5G problem could be solved and talk about many different solutions, but in the end I'm going to pick the one I think is best and discuss why I made that decision.

What is 5G?

5G is the fifth generation technology for cellular networks such as WIFI and cellular data. Phone companies started launching 5G worldwide in 2019, the company that put in the most funds was Vodafone. They planned for 5G to be faster and hold more devices on the same cell. All 5G compatible wireless devices are connected to the internet or mobile data by using a radio wave system that goes through a local antenna carrying all the data that you are downloading or looking at. In short 5G is a stronger, faster network, loading and downloading things on your cell phone, laptop gaming consoles etc takes much less than using 4G. 5G is faster than 4G because it uses more radio waves frequencies, and it holds a lot more devices in one cell than 4G can hold in on

How do cell phone systems work?

A cell phone is a two-way radio consisting of a radio transmitter and radio receiver, this basically explains how 3, 4 and 5G work with a cell phone. The phone receives network waves from the 4/5G towers and sends the network waves. When you are talking to someone on the phone your phone converts your voice into an electrical signal, which is then transmitted to the nearest cell tower (this includes 5G and WIFI) which is then sent off to the receiver of your call. The phone basically sends out your text and it goes through network waves, which then go to whoever you sent the message to.

How is 5G bad for our health?

5G is slowly making its way across the world, some people say not to worry about the strong radiations caused by 5G, but meanwhile some experts are alarmed about what these strong radiations around our body are going to do to our health. The bad thing about 5G is that, unlike 4G which requires less weight of waves for the speed of your device, 5G has more, and heavier network waves. This means that these waves are a lot stronger than they already are with 4G, and even 4G waves aren’t that good for our body. As 5G uses higher frequency network waves than earlier mobile networks, allowing a larger amount of devices on the same wave and cell, this means that instead of maybe having 4/5 device waves going through your house, you will have double or triple that, which makes you even more immersed in these network radio waves. In the United Kingdom some experts are sure that with 5G radiations there eventually will be health issues in later years. The magnetic waves that we are surrounded by now (4G and all other WIFI networks) don’t cause any harm but if 5G is going to get in all around the world it is most likely that a lot of people will get cancer and other brain and health issues. The health GOVT of New Zealand has done a lot of research on it and the results of these long studies by experts have got some answers: they said that there are both positive and negative affects on our body but there is no certainty on either of the two.

Do we really need 5G when 4G is good and fast enough?

The 5G network might actually make your 4G device better, 5G is a game changing wireless technology, taking wireless connection to a higher level, 5G has the power to boost up the speed and coverage of wireless networks, this includes also WIFI. 5G can run from 10 to 100 times faster than 4G networks that some countries have at the moment. 5G is quicker than any fast fibre WIFI that there is, for example if you are downloading a 2 hour movie with 5G it would take 3.6 seconds and with normal WIFI it would take from 5 to 6 minutes. 5G provides 100% connection all the time which means that with cell phones, gaming consoles and PC’s there would be no loading and downloading lag. 5G is a really good thing because you can do things on your phone or other devices in a short amount of time, but these radiations aren’t great for us. For some kind of jobs 5G would be great but normal people that use their phone, laptops Ps4’s etc then you are fine with the normal WIFI or 4G connection.

Which countries have these 5G towers been put up?

The top countries that have 5G networks installed around the place include: South Korea, United Kingdom, Germany and the United States, these are then countries that have the largest amount of 5G towers around, but there are more countries with 5G around the world as well. Since the first countries to have 5G were in 2018, these four countries that I mentioned before are marked as leaders because multiple companies within the country have installed 5G that is compatible with the devices that they sell. Other countries such as Switzerland and Finland are up next in installing 5G towers around their country. The world’s largest 5G network was launched by the three largest Chinese network companies and operators, this happened on October the 31st 2019. Another country that had a lot of 5G networks installed was the United Kingdom. In 2019 Vodafone UK, Three UK and O2 UK launched the most of the 5G networks around the UK. In the UK Huawei cell phones are not compatible with 5G networks. All these big 5G networks in these four countries were all installed in 2019.

This chart that I made from collected data shows the percentage of the expected connections to 5G in 2025, so this diagram means that most of the countries are going to use 5G and the percentage of people that will use the 5G, this is guessed based on analytics of 5G towers been put up and the use of 5G network:

In what cities in Nz have they been put up?

Vodafone started putting up 5G towers with limited coverage, first in Auckland, then in Wellington, Christchurch and finally Queenstown, Spark decided to go a bit more rural with 5G, so they put up six 5G towers in six different islands in the south island. In the future Spark and Vodafone will increase the places where 5G towers have been put up, here in Tauranga a few have been installed, for example there is one near my house and one in Papamoa as far as I know even though there is more.Vodafone and Spark say that 5G is not all about speed but what else could it be other than no lag and quicker loading and downloading speed?

Does the public in NZ agree to having 5G?

Most of the public in New Zealand don’t mind having 5G around, but they really don’t know if 5G is bad or good, they aren’t very informed, but some people are aware that in later years 5G could bring health issues such as cancer and other brain issues. The New Zealand government doesn’t see why we shouldn’t bring 5G to New Zealand because no other country has banned or tried to stop 5G from being put in their country. People like us don’t really get a choice whether 5G gets put in New Zealand or not because the Government chooses if to or not. However there are a bunch of people that are complaining about 5G and there is going to be more if any health issues occur because of 5G. If health issues occur and nothing is going to be done about it there would be heaps of protestors and complaints which will eventually make the big companies think about uninstalling 5G. There have been 17 5G towers that have been vandalized, they were burnt down by protestors that have the belief that 5G is linked to COVID-19 illnesses, this is however proven by experts that it is not true at all.

What are other people’s opinions and thoughts on 5G around the world?

There are some conspiracy theories that this whole COVID-19 is somehow linked to 5G, However this is not true people are just trying to make excuses because they are scared of Coronavirus, some people think that 5G has nothing to do with Coronavirus, which scientists have studied and proven that it’s not true. Some people in the world just don’t think 5G is good for our health, but some people completely agree to having 5G around, they don’t mind and they don’t think that there’s going to be any problems with it. There are a lot of people however that are a bit concerned about 5G and its effects on the human body, nothing has happened yet but there is a good chance that something will happen one day.

Different solutions:

The three solutions to the health problem that could occur because of 5G, the first one would obviously be removing 5G completely, this would cost a bit of money and workers, but the pros is that there isn’t going to be a risk of occurring health issues, we aren’t going to be submerged in these strong radiations anymore, but the cons is that we wouldn’t have fast loading devices, slower phones etc, this would mean that some office companies would have to go back to the normal wireless connection and work would be slightly slower.

The second solution would be to nothing about it, this would be good for big companies that work on computers and all of the people that have phones that are compatible with 5G, however this wouldn’t be too good for our health, in later years what could happen would be that people will start getting health problems, maybe serious or just harmful, this solution wouldn’t cost any money and workers because 5G doesn’t need to be removed.

The last solution would be making a new network that is just as good as 5G but that it doesn’t have as strong radiations as 5G, this would stop health issues, but in money it would cost millions and maybe billions of dollars to accomplish, it would also take a lot of experts’ time to think about how to reduce the amount of strong waves that 5G uses, but having the same speed at the same time.

Conclusion:

Which solution I think it’s best:

The solution that I think is best out of the three is the last one: Making a new network that has the same speed as 5G but not having network waves that are as heavy as the 5G ones. I think that this solution is the best because I think that having fast loading devices is good, I reckon that it’s the best solution because It’s not going to cause health risks as 5G could. This solution is good for the health side, but for the financial side it wouldn’t be great, first it would cost heaps of money to remove the current 5G towers and networks that are installed around the world, secondly there would have to be a lot of experts and scientists that would be paid heaps of money and they would have to use really expensive equipment, lastly it could take from a year to who knows until the new “5G” would be finally, after all the tests made be installed.
