  • Navigating Extended Time Away From School: This is a document developed by the MDE Office of Special Education. It contains many resources to assist families in supporting their children through this time.

  • Michigan Alliance for Families COVID-19 Supports Michigan Alliance For Families has put together information and resources for families related to COVID-19 and educating students with disabilities.

  • News 2 You Parent Resources News 2 You has compiled resources for parents, including free access to learning materials through News 2 You and Unique Learning Systems. You will find videos or lessons from the March ULS lessons as well as News 2 You newspapers covering COVID19. These resources are differentiated to meet the needs of students with cognitive impairments. This page also provides videos on how to navigate the News 2 You resources as well.

  • Mommy Speech Therapy This website was developed by a speech therapist and offers resources to support speech and language at home.

  • OT Mom Learning Activities This website has many ideas for sensory integration activities that can be done at home. It also includes many ideas on ways that you can work on fine motor and visual motor skills at home as well. While this site has informational books and other resources for purchase, it also includes many free ideas!

  • Starfall PreK through Grade 3 learning activities for math, literacy, and more.

  • Khan Academy Many resources to keep students on track with learning, including daily schedules.

  • Khan Academy Kids

  • Scholastic Learn at Home This free resource provides 20 days of articles and stories (can be read using built-inspeech synthesis), videos, and fun learning challenges. Children can complete them anytime, in any order.

  • Storyline Celebrities read children's books

  • Virtual Fieldtrips

  • Epic Get access to thousands of online books, learning videos, and more!

  • Splash Learn Practice math skills through fun online games.

  • Learning Trajectories This website includes videos of math activities you can do at home as well as connections to math games. You have to create a classroom to get access to most of the materials, but it is free to do so. Just create a classroom with your children in it, and you will have access to many resources for working on math at any level.

  • Fun Brain Online books and games for reading and math.

  • PBS Kids Learning games with characters from popular children’s shows and books.

  • Go Noodle Get ready to have some fun through movement! This site not only will get students moving, it also provides learning opportunities in multiple areas, including social-emotional health.

  • Zones of Regulation Zones of Regulation is a program that helps students learn about their emotions and learn self-regulation skills.

Resources for Students with Autism Spectrum Disorder

Resources for Students With Complex Communication Needs:

  • AAC Language Lab The AAC Language Lab offers real-life solutions in support of language development for children who use augmentative and alternative communication. The company is offering a free 2 month trial for parents. Start by creating an account then, under My Account, go to Purchase for Myself and select Free 2 Month Trial under the Language Lab purchase options.

  • Core Word Classroom AssistiveWare Core Word Classroom is an online resource for teaching communication and interaction across the day, including a special section to help parents teach communication during every day routines. Sign up for a free account and then check out the resources including the section on Core Words at Home.

  • Saltillo Example activities for incorporating core words into activities, read aloud stories using core vocabulary, and more.

  • Project Core This website includes training tools to learn how to support students with complex communication needs and emergent readers.

  • Tobii Dynavox At Home Learning Resources: This site includes many visual supports for use at home to assist with communication, following schedules and routines, talking about COVID-19, and more.

General ACC: For all families who have children using AAC devices/systems, the following may be helpful:

PODD: Families of students using PODD communication books can find support by going to YouTube and searching PODD Modeling.

TouchChat: Families of students using the TouchChat HD AAC with WordPower app can typically get the quickest support and can ask questions within the: "TouchChat App Users Group" on Facebook.

LAMP: Families of students using the LAMP Words for Life app can typically get the quickest support and can ask questions within the: "LAMP Words For Life Users Group" on Facebook.

Resources for Students With Visual Impairments:
