Week 5- Learning Tasks

COMPLETE THE ACTIVITIES BELOW THROUGHOUT THE WEEK

Maths

There are four activities that have been set on seesaw - one for each day this week.

An email will be sent on Tuesday with instructions on how to set up seesaw at home. If you already have access to seesaw, we ask that you log out and then log back in with the new login details that will be sent out.

You might also like to write numbers 1 - 20 on a piece of paper and cut them out and have a play with putting them in order from smallest to largest and/or largest to smallest. Mix them up, choose one and say what number comes before and after that number.

Reading

  • 5-10 minutes of reading daily - you choose the book you want to read.

  • Record the title of what you have read in your reading journal.

Option 1

On seesaw there is a reading activity for you. Have a go of reading the story to mum or dad first then record yourself reading the story so I can hear it too.

Option 2

Epic is a reading app that you can download on your device.

Did this experience remind you of something you have done before or would you like to do this again. Remember - capital letter, full stop, finger spaces, and try to hear and write all the sounds in the word.

Option 2

Go outside and look at the clouds. Think about some interesting words that could describe them. Write a few sentences that describes what you saw, if it reminds you of something and/or how it made you feel.

Option 3

If you could have any pet, what would you choose? Write a few sentences to explain why you think this animal would make a good pet and how you would look after it.

Go outside and try sketching on some paper something from your yard - it may be a plant, an animal or even a family member.

Mindfulness

  • Spend 10 minutes each day in a quiet place. Centre yourself - straight spine, soft belly. Make sure you are comfortable.

  • Close your eyes and focus on your breathing. Just like we do in class. Focus on each breath and track it as it goes in and out. Notice your breathing and remember that if your mind wanders, you just silently say ‘wandering’ and bring all your attention back to your breathing.

  • Let yourself sit, breathe and just ‘be’’.

  • Doing this each day will help you stay calm, relaxed and peaceful - just like it does in class!

Learning Through Play & Life Skills

You might like to do an indoor scavenger hunt. You could take photos or write a list of what you have found.
