Killer whales typically live for around 60 years in the wild. Killer whales are black on the dorsal surface, but white extends from the chin to the anus of the animal with white spots just above the eyes as well. The average length for an adult male is about 8 meters (26 ft) for females they typically grow to about 7 meters (24 ft) with a maximum of 8.5 meters (27.5 ft). The average weight for a male is about 7200 kg while females weigh a little less than that.
The differences between a female and a male killer whale are their fins, the males have an erect dorsal fin that can reach up to 1.8 meters (5 ft) high and female killer whales typically have curved dorsal fins that reach only about 0.9 meters (about 2 ft) high.
