Introduction to Music
Year 10 Elective
Course Description
In this subject students get introduced to the music subject and get the opportunity to perform in groups or as a soloist. Prior experience in playing an instrument is not essential however it will be preferable in order to be more productive in class.
Students will also learn about music notation in addition to cultural and social influences on different musical styles. This subject runs as a semester subject however students can continue with Year 10 Music in Semester 2. Year 10 Introduction to Music is a great way to become part of the performing arts program at Tarneit where students can take part in major college events and other more informal performances.
Outcomes - On completion of this unit students will be able to:
perform on a selected instrument in a group or solo context
review stylistic and historical influences on music.
demonstrate musicianship through the study of music theory
