School Zone

The guidelines for development and operation of enrolment schemes are issued under section 11G (3) of the Education Act 1989 for the purpose of describing the basis on which the Secretary’s powers in relation to enrolment schemes will be exercised.

Home Zone

All students who live within the home zone described below and shown on the attached map are entitled to enrol at the school.

Starting at the intersection of Wairau Road (135-399, odd addresses only included) and Hillside Road (excluded), travel north along Wairau Road and then continue west (Diana Drive, View Road, Hogans Road excluded) to Glenfield Road. Travel north along Glenfield Road (579- 641, odd addresses only included. James Street and Glendhu Road excluded) to the Albany Highway. Travel north west along the Albany Highway (2-100, even addresses and 1-153 odd addresses included, Upper Harbour Drive excluded). Travel across country to Spoonbill Place. Travel east along Spoonbill Place and then Bluebird Crescent to the roundabout (Unsworth Drive and Greenwich Way included). Travel south east from the roundabout along Unsworth Drive until the next roundabout, from there travel north east along Barbados Drive (Rook Place, Wren Place and Caribbean Drive included). Continue east along Barbados Drive to the roundabout. From the roundabout go onto Meadowood Drive (Cabello Place, Sabana Place and Santiago Crescent included) travel east and then south along Meadowood Drive to Sunset Road (2-188 even addresses only and 1-141 odd addresses only included). Travel north east along Sunset Road to Highgrove Lane and then south along Highgrove Lane. At the end of Highgrove Lane travel across country to the end of Totaravale Drive. Continue south along Totaravale Drive to the roundabout (Sunnynook Road, addresses 174 and above included). From the roundabout go onto Link Drive and continue south to Croftfield Lane and then south all the way to Tristram Avenue and then west back to the starting point.

Target Road School does have an enrolment scheme. Our home zone is described below.

All residential addresses on included sides of boundary roads and all no exit roads off included sides of boundary roads are included in the zone unless otherwise stated.

Proof of residence within the home zone will be required.

Each year, applications for enrolment in the following year from in-zone students will be sought by a date which will be published in a daily or community newspaper circulating in the area served by the school. This will enable the board to assess the number of places which can be made available to students who live outside the home zone.

Out of Zone Enrolments

Enrolments term 2

Applications for out of zone places in term 2 2022, across all ages, are invited to be submitted before May 1st 2022. If required, a ballot will take place on this date. Please email office@target.school.nz to start the enrolment process.

Each year the board will determine the number of places which are likely to be available in the following year for the enrolment of students who live outside the home zone. The board will publish this information by notice in a daily or community newspaper circulating in the area served by the school. The notice will indicate how applications are to be made and will specify a date by which all applications must be received.

The ballot for places at our school for 2022 will be in October of 2021.

Applications for enrolment will be processed in the following order of priority:

First Priority this priority category is not applicable at this school because the school does not run a special programme approved by the Secretary

Second Priority will be given to applicants who are siblings of current students.

Third Priority will be given to applicants who are siblings of former students.

Fourth Priority will be given to any applicant who is a child of a former student of the school.

Fifth Priority will be given to any applicant who is either a child of an employee of the board of the school or a child of a member of the board of the school.

Sixth Priority will be given to all other applicants.

If there are more applicants in the second, third, fourth, fifth or sixth priority groups than there are places available, selection within the priority group will be by a ballot conducted in accordance with instructions issued by the Secretary under Section 11G(1) of the Education Act 1989. Parents will be informed of the date of any ballot by notice in a daily or community newspaper circulating in the area served by the school.

Applicants seeking second or third priority status may be required to give proof of a sibling relationship.
