Iguana Lodge will love you to stay extra nights! Special discount for people who sign up for the retreat. Ask Shira about it. It is recommended to spend a couple extra days before or after the retreat to take extra tours to experience the Osa Peninsula without missing out on the movement sessions that are included in the retreat.
A lot of you are teachers, if you want to offer a class or have another activity you would like to share - Let Shira know!
In general things close pretty early and likely people on the retreat would want to go to bed early to get up for the early morning session. On Friday night there will be a salsa party at Iguana Lodge, be aware that it can get loud for 2 hours, bring your ear plugs if you want.
Iguana Lodge feels very safe, you may keep your valuables in the safe key in your room. When you are outside of Iguana Lodge, especially in San Jose, please watch your stuff!
There is a laundry bag in the room, just bring it to the office, it usually takes 24 hours to be done. It is $5/kilo
Tap water is fine to drink. Please bring your own water bottle for reuse.
Iguana has a beautiful spa facility. One of the highlight of my visit to Iguana was the massage I got. Also some of the retreaters are bodyworkers that would love to offer their services.
If you want to go into town a taxi costs $10 each way.
While you are in Iguana Lodge, you don't really need to carry cash around, they will put anything extra you purchase on your tab (spa, laundry, drinks, tours....) that you will pay before you leave (cash or credit card). You can easily not spend any extra money during the retreat as so much is already provided. If you would like to tip any of the staff at Iguana Lodge, the tour guides or the drivers, you are more then welcome to!
Yes there is WiFi, even on the beach! Note: It can be slower than what you are used to.
Arrive anytime on May 11th to start enjoying the beautiful grounds (beach, jungle, pool, hammocks..), Your room will be ready by 3pm and lunch will be included in the retreat price.
You got to be out of your room by 11am on May 18th. Before you leave, please make sure to stop by the office to see if there are any bills you need to pay for additional services (massage/laundry/extra drinks..)
There is no ATM at Iguana Lodge, you can go to town if you need, it is 10 min drive and taxi costs $10 each way. To pay your bills at Iguana you can use a credit card.
Nope, it is an eco-resort, therefore no air-conditioning. They do have great fans, lots of shady areas and a shaded swimming pool. If you absolutely want air-conditioning, there is an option to stay in the hotel next door.
The weather forecast might say that you is likely to rain everyday all day as it is impossible to predict the weather in the Osa Peninsula. Don't worry, it might rain, but it won't rain all the time and it is actually nice when it rains a bit as the temperature goes down slightly.
You might want to wear at night long sleeve and/or use bug spray. If bug is an issue for you, this might not be the retreat for you, as we are in the middle of the jungle.
Advance notice, we are staying in the jungle and there are all kind of animals. It is unlikely that will be a problem, but you might scream once or twice when you see a crab or something on your way to your room. Just avoid interacting with them and enjoy the unforgettable jungle experience.
