Hello Second Grade Families!
Welcome to Week 12! We have loved seeing all of the work you’ve been doing on the online platforms AND in the daily plans posted each day! We are so proud of the work you’ve been doing online and have especially loved seeing all of the beautiful poems you’ve been creating. Continue to check out those daily plans for even more learning this week!
This week in Math, we will start a new Mission on Zearn - Mission 8 - Shapes, Time, and Fractions. This Mission teaches students the most important building block of fractions—unit fractions. Through shapes and clocks, students develop an understanding of the unit fraction as equal parts of the whole.
For the next two weeks, we will be working with our STEAM teacher Ms. Melissa! As always, she will have lots of fun, engaging, and exciting ways to learn. You can check out her section in our daily plans!

Hello Second Grade Families,
Let's start week 9 off strong! We saw tons of smiles on Zoom for Crew and many students showing such amazing PIRR with their school work at home this past week. Each week you continue to make strides and we are so proud of all your hard work!
Starting May 11th, we will be transitioning from Zoom to Google Meets. This week our teachers and staff are meeting with Instructional Coaches to be able to effectively use Google Meets for Crew and for any 1:1 sessions that will be held with students. Throughout this changing time, we must be adaptable and flexible with finding platform that are high quality and safe for all. Although Zoom has enabled many safety features, we know that Google Meets is far superior when it comes to safety.
Last week, Student Account information was sent home via email with a subject line of: Tapestry K-5 Student Login Information to be able to access their student gmail and be able to log onto Google Meets. If you need this information sent to you again please call 716-332-0754 or feel free to contact your classroom teachers.
To log onto Google: for students with Chromebooks, Tapestry's student laptops, you simply use you student login as you typically do. If you do not have a Chromebook, you can download the Meet app on whatever device you are using an log on with the student user account. To access Google Meets, Teachers will share out a “meeting code” with families for crew or other 1:1 sessions. Students will need this "meeting code" and type it in to access at your designated meeting time. This code will be the same for most classes Crew. If it doesn’t work immediately, the teacher may not be logged on yet. Give us a minute or two and type it again!
Keep up the great work on Zearn and RAZ Kids! Let's try to set an even bigger goal this week for ourselves! We miss you, love you and can't wait to see what you impress us with this week! (:

Second Grade Families,
We hope you enjoyed a beautiful sunny weekend! As we are all aware, Governor Cuomo has officially closed our school buildings for the rest of the year. The feelings we are all experiencing are varied and all very real. As we continue to move forward with learning, we are ready to help you through the rest of the year online! It is important to keep showing PIRR as you work through the daily schedule this week. We always talk about how PIRR isn’t just for school, and we’re so proud of how you’re showing it at home and online! Keep it up!
This week we start off with a new super subject Art! This week Ms. Brooke will be joining some of our crews! We can't wait to see how creative you can be!
Just like last week, each morning the daily assignments will be posted on the homepage of this website. If for some reason you need to go back to a previous day, there will be links to all assignments for that week. If you are still unsure of any login information, please contact your teacher directly. Please do not hesitate to email with any questions!
Last week we saw awesome writing pieces and some great work on Zearn and Raz Kids! We can't wait to see the great work you do this week! We miss you, we love you, and are so excited for all of the amazing things you’ll do in Week 8!

Welcome to Week 7, Second Grade Families!
As we kick off our second week of online learning we’d like to give a special shout out to our Monkeys, Giraffes, and Buffalos! We had so much participation on our learning sites this week - the numbers almost doubled! We are so proud of how hard you are working.
This week we encourage you to try out one of the online learning sites that you’re not as familiar with - Zearn, IXL, RAZ Kids, and ReadWorks. Our daily schedule will continue to be posted on our homepage. Remember to check out our Crew pages, just in case you missed one!
We can’t wait until Friday to see the final drafts of your opinion pieces! We are so impressed by the work you’ve done already. Parents, please make sure to send us a copy via email, Remind, etc.
We miss you, we love you, and are so excited for all of the amazing things you’ll do in Week 7!
Stay Kind,
Your Second Grade Teachers
P.S. Check out some of the awesome work from last week below!
Welcome to Week 6 Second Grade Families!
On Monday, April 20th we are switching to all online instruction. Each morning a schedule page with links embedded will be available to you. A remote-learning guide was sent via email last Friday. If you didn't receive the email from Jen Pangborn, please reach out to your child's teacher -- they'll be happy to send you a copy! We know this shift may cause some struggles, but be assured we are here to help along the way. As we have said during this whole process, do your best, this is not an ideal situation, completing everything on the daily schedule is wonderful but not expected. Every family has its own needs and challenges, do what you can.
Please check out Ms. Katie and Mr. Dawan's 10 Day Virtual Heart Healthy Challenge

P.S. Keep the following in mind:
Hello Second Grade Families,
Hope you all enjoyed your weekend! It was SO great to see many smiling faces and getting to chat during morning meetings for Crew on Zoom last week! Please be sure to check the daily updated home tab with your class's Crew meeting ID and password to join in on Zoom. If you weren’t able to join us, the Crew tab on the 2nd grade site has many resources you can explore. If you’re still having questions or any trouble, please feel free to reach out to your teachers.
As week 5 begins, you should be focusing on completing your packet. Be sure to hold onto your packets to bring back to the Main Office when we return to school. You should take some time this week to get familiar with our online site, if you are not already. There are many links and videos to watch to support your learning at home. Keep up the amazing perseverance and responsibility you are showing working hard completing your school work and using IXL, ReadWorks and Raz Kids! We are always looking to add IXL Champs of the Week, will it be you?!
As school closure is currently extended through April 29th, starting April 20th a full school day of learning will be posted for you. It is important that your child participates each day having a focus on math, literacy and Super Subjects. We understand that every home life looks different, we ask to keep doing the best you can and please do not be overwhelmed! We are always here to answer your questions and to help you in any way we can! As always, thank you for the support you are giving your student, your communication and flexibility during this time. Remember we are very proud of all you are doing, keep the photos coming, and we miss you very much!

Hello Second Grade Families,
We wanted to start by celebrating all the work that you've all completed especially in Week 3! It was very exciting to see how you are are continuing to use IXL, ReadWorks and, Raz Kids. Please keep up the good work this week. We want to emphasize the importance of guiding your child to complete recommended skills on IXL first (as many of you already are). These are skills that we have specifically chosen for your students based on their performance.
Starting on Monday 4/6, you are invited and encouraged to join in daily with your Crew for a morning meeting through Zoom or recorded video. Each day you will find a link to join your class' meeting, the Meeting ID and a password or a link to your video. This information will be updated on under the home tab for your convenience. If you have any questions about what this will look like or assistance using the site, please reach out to your teachers. We are all fairly new to the site and are feeling confident with it! These Crew lessons will be delivered across grade levels but for our team, the lessons will begin at 9:00am.
Thank you to everyone at home who is working hard to support their students during this time, we appreciate your flexibility with instruction and your willingness to communicate with us, we miss the students SO much and are grateful for the lines of communication which have been established. The Zoom meetings will be an added level of communication which we are eager to kick off this Monday.

Hello 2nd Graders and Families!
We hope you were able to get outside and enjoy that beautiful sunshine over the weekend!
Here’s to WEEK 3! This week, you can use the outlined work in the packets first and then use our online platforms like IXL, Zearn, Raz-Kids, and ReadWorks for additional practice! We have been busy finding just the right texts for you to read and just the right math skills to practice. Parents, we encourage you to support your child with completing either 1 IXL skill (to a SMART score of at least 80) or a complete Zearn lesson from beginning to end each day.
**A note about IXL: When your child logs on, you will see a yellow star with recommended skills. Please have your child try these skills FIRST. They were hand picked by your child's teacher based on individual and class needs.
Be on the lookout for NEW champs this week, too! As always, make sure you are getting your 20 minutes of reading in each day and don’t forget to practice those sights words! A new activity is posted under our ELA section – be sure to check it out!
Remember to check this site daily for new updates in all sections - we are always adding new and exciting pictures and activities!
Please continue to send us all of the incredible things you are doing at home! We miss you SO much and are so proud of all of your hard work!
