BES Families,
Next Friday, February 6th, 2026 is the 100th day of school. As always, I will again be reviewing students' ideas about ways to represent 100. This is a fun special day and student who have the most creative ways of showing 100 will receive a certificate. I also enjoy taking pictures of all of the students' efforts on these projects. This is voultary and I am happy for parents to assist children with these creations. Please look for the amazing pictures in next week's White Tiger News.
Please email us with any questions, concerns, or attendance needs!
*Monthly invoices for January Pre-K, BSP and ASP will be at the end of each month.

Postural Screening
Grades 5 & 6
Dear 5th and 6th Grade Parents and Guardians,
In compliance with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Brookfield Elementary School will be conducting annual Postural Screenings for 5th and 6th grade boys and girls during Gym class on Thursday, February 5th and Friday, February 6th.
The purpose of this screening is to look for early signs of possible spinal problems in children. It is not a diagnostic service, but a program to identify children who should have further medical evaluation. If your child has any unusual findings, you will be notified and asked to take your child to a physician as a precaution. The majority of students exhibit no unusual findings.
Students will be examined in a private location and asked to remove their shirt only. Girls are asked to wear/bring a bra, sports bra or two-piece swimsuit top to school on these days. This type of clothing permits more accurate observation of the back. If they forget, a halter top will be provided for the exam.
If your child has had a postural screening done (usually included in a yearly Physical Exam) within the last year (2/5/25-2/4/26) and you would prefer to opt out of the school screening, please send documentation, if you have not already, to Nurse Julie. If your child has not had a physical exam within the last year and you would like to opt your child out of the school postural screening, please notify Nurse Julie in writing (written or email.)
If you would like more information on how a Postural Screening is performed, please watch this video (https://youtu.be/7bfp0fcfH7E) from Boston Children’s Hospital. Please contact Nurse Julie at lardizzonej@tantasqua.org or 508-867-8774 if you have any questions.
The Facts of LICE
Head lice are most commonly spread by direct head-to-head contact with hair of other people who have head lice. Head lice are less commonly spread through contact with an infested person’s personal items, such as hairbrushes and combs, hats, unwashed clothing, bedding, or towels. Head lice are commonly spread within householdsMDPH.
Screening for lice/nits in the school or childcare setting is not an accurate way of predicting which children or adolescents are or will become infested, and screening for head lice has not been proven to have a significant effect on the incidence of head lice in a school community over timeAAP
If you are concerned your child is at risk of getting head lice, you can look for crawling lice and for nits on your child's scalp a section at a time. Nits can be confused with many other things such as dandruff, dirt particles or hair spray droplets. The way to tell the difference is that nits are firmly attached to hair, while dandruff, dirt or other particles are not.
If lice are found, the most effective way to treat head lice is with head lice medicine. Head lice medicine should be used only when it is certain that your child has live head lice, it is important to use them safely and as directedHealthy Children.
