English II and English II Honors

Class overview

The purpose of this course is to provide instruction in English language skills, which will prepare students for the future. Students will learn how to analytically read, write, and speak about literature and language. A variety of literary genres provide the basis for reading instruction. Composition instruction will focus on the writing of essays for various purposes and will include all phases of the writing process. Speaking skills will center around honing the skills of effective communication on various topics.

We will have three units this year: Hamilton: An American Musical by Lin-Manuel Miranda, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot, and The Life of Pi by Yann Martel
