What is HSA?

HSA stands for Health Science Academy. It is an initiative started by Counties Manukau Health aimed at getting more Pasifika youth like yoursef into health careers that reflects the community we serve.

Tangaroa College has been working with Health Science Academy to design a program that encourages and supports you to choose science as a high school subject, providing opportunities and resources to ensure your success.

Even though you will be taking part in schooling like others to achieve NCEA and University Entrance, what differs will be the following:

-Well defined HSA: Strong focus on academic, science achievement. Having increased motivation to tackle challenging tasks.

-Passionate directors/tutors that have a caring relationship with students and mentoring you toward health science careers

-Studying together with the like-minded students pursuing similar interests and dreams.

-Gaining friendships and contacts within and beyond the school

-Extra exposure to health careers and tertiary education

-Camps and activities that help develop confidence and networks

-Engagement with families through fono, and building of a relationship that works as a team
