Fact Fluency
How to Practice at Home:
- Practice daily!
- Websites and smart tablet apps; here a few that we like:
- Begin with addition and subtraction (especially in 3rd grade), moving on to multiplication and division
- Practice addition and subtraction together and multiplication and division together
- Find opportunities to practice: while driving, while having dinner
More about helping your child learn his or her multiplication and division facts:
- The goal is to learn facts up to 10 x 10 and 100 10
- If you are practicing verbally with your child:
- Begin with 0s and 1s
- Move on to 2s, 5s and 10s
- Move on to 3s and 4s
- Finally, move on to 6s, 7s, 8s and 9s
Students are working on these facts at school, however practice at home will help your child’s confidence, fluency and ability to access higher level skills
