Teaching

  1. Dr. Zhang teaches gradaute level Aerosol Physics and Chemistry every two years in the spring.

The class will include the following topics:

  • Characterization of Aerosols

  • Size Distributions of Aerosols

  • Motions of Aerosols in the Air

  • Electrical Properties of Aerosols

  • Microscopic Techniques in Analyzing Aerosols

  • Chemical Composition of Aerosols

  • Chemical Reactions of Aerosols

  • The Climate Effects of Aerosols

2. Dr. Zhang teaches Air Pollution and Atmospheric Chemistry, an undergraduate core class in the fall.

The class will include the following topics:

  • Composition, Structure, and Transport in the Atmosphere

  • Chemical Kinetics

  • Photochemistry

  • Stratospheric Ozone

  • Tropospheric Ozone

  • Aerosol Basics

  • Aqueous Reactions

  • Cloud Microphysics

  • Global Climate Change and Radiative Balance

3. Dr. Zhang teaches a general elective course Weather and the Climate in the spring every other year.

The class will include the following topics:

  • Structure of the atmosphere

  • Energy and motions of the atmosphere

  • Fronts and cyclones

  • Atmospheric stability

  • Clouds and precipitation

  • Severe storms

  • Climate

Dr. Zhang intergrates high imapct learning experiences and various class activities to help students understand the course content as well as stimulate their interests in research and active learning. Below are some of the teaching activities that Dr. Zhang organized when teaching these classes.
