Hi, I'm Xin Liu, an assistant professor from the Dept. Math of TAMU.

I got my Ph.D in mathematics from CUHK in 2017, under the supervision of Prof. Zhouping Xin. I did my postdoc in Texas A&M University (2017-2019, with Edriss Titi), Freie Universitaet Berlin (2019-2021, with Rupert Klein), and Weierstrass Institute (2022, with Marita Thomas).

I am interested in mathematical problems with strong physics background and real world applications.

I start my research with the free boundary problem of compressible flows. Lately, I am also interested in asymptotic limits of different fluid models and beyond, including but not limited to, low Mach number limit, quasi-geostrophic approximation, etc.

Teaching

I am teaching M308 during spring 2023 in College Station.

The following lecture notes are just for reference. Students are responsible for their own notes.
