WGST Pre-Nursing Majors can choose from a variety of options. Students interested in pursing Texas A&M Nursing can major in the WGST Pre-Nursing Concentration in the 2 years leading up to their transfer to the Texas A&M School of Nursing. Students accepted into the School of Nursing can use their WGST Pre-Nursing credits to continue a WGST Gender and Health Minor, while completing their nursing courses. Additionally, students interested in obtaining their BSN after college can choose the traditional 4 year plan that the Pre-Nursing Concentration in WGST offers.Â
Students that choose WGST Pre-Nursing gain the knowledge, skills, and experience related to the intersection of gender, health, healthcare, and health policy. The healthcare industry is an area of continued growth, and nurses are in high demand. WGST Pre-Nursing helps students recognize and understand the complex intersections of gender, race, sexuality, and class in preparation for continued education and careers in nursing.
