Principal Investigator
Allegra J. Midgette (she/her/hers) is the Principal Investigator (PI) of the MD Lab. Dr. Midgette is an Assistant Professor in the Psychological and Brain Sciences Department at Texas A&M University. She completed a two-year NICHD T32 postdoctoral fellowship at the Frank Porter Graham Child Development Institute at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She received her Ph.D. in Human Development in Education from the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Midgette graduated from Brown University with a B.A. in Education, with honors, magna cum laude, and Phi Beta Kappa. Dr. Midgette has collaborated with scholars at the Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo (Brazil), Northeast Normal University (China), Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (China), Seoul National University of Education (South Korea), and Tampere University (Finland).
Graduate Students
Percy is a third-year PhD student from Alabama. They earned their BS in Psychology from UAB with minors in biology and film. They are interested in understanding gender nonconformity and how people understand ambiguous gender presentation. Additionally, Percy enjoys teaching undergraduates and helping students get involved in research and is obsessed with their furbaby, Finn.
Ning Li is a first-year PhD student in the Moral Development Lab. He earned previous degrees in Psychology (B.S. and M.A.) from Beijing Normal University, as well as a dual B.A. in Chinese Law. This interdisciplinary training shapes his curiosity about moral psychology, discovering how people think, act, and perceive others in a world full of norms. He is also open to collaborations in the broader topics of personality and social psychology. Outside academia, Ning enjoys being an adult figure skater.
Ava is a first-year Ph.D. student in Social and Personality Psychology. She earned her B.S. degrees in Psychology and Philosophy from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2025, along with a minor in HDFS and certificates in Ethical Theory and Practice and Multicultural Studies. Her research interests include moral development and cognition, as well as family dynamics.
Lab Manager
Howdy! Soy Mirka! :) [she/they/ella]
I am the lab manager of the Moral Development Lab and graduated with a BS in Psychology in December 2021 from UC Davis. I loved being an Aggie, I just had to do it twice! My current research interests include stereotypes within higher education and how individuals develop identities and relationships within various contexts such as family, peers and culture. Outside of the lab you can find me reading, at the gym or exploring new places for good food and even better coffee!

Mis intereses de investigación actuales incluyen los estereotipos dentro de la educación superior y cómo las personas desarrollan identidades y relaciones dentro de varios contextos, como la familia, los compañeros y la cultura. Undergraduate Research Assistants
Howdy! I’m Jasmine and I’m a second year psychology major from Dallas, TX! I joined the Moral Development Lab because I’m interested in learning more about how labor is divided in the household, the concept of the “second shift” of unpaid domestic labor and childcare responsibilities as well as getting experience in psychological research as a whole. Outside of school, you can probably find me playing Minecraft or listening to Spotify!
Howdy! My name is Ava Eyring and I am a fourth-year undergraduate student at Texas A&M University majoring in Psychology. I joined the Moral Development lab to gain research experience and learn more about the factors that impact child development. After graduation, I plan on attending graduate school for counseling or clinical psychology in hopes of working as a child psychologist. In my free time, I enjoy baking and hanging out with friends.
Howdy! My name is Jason Keating, and I'm a third year undergraduate student pursuing a B.A. in Psychology. I joined the MD lab to learn more about social and familial dynamics, as well as for experience with psychological research. After college, I'm planning to continue with graduate school to hopefully have a career in counseling/therapy! Outside of all that, I enjoy reading, running, music, and playing video games with my friends.
Soo Hyun Park, a senior undergraduate at Texas A&M, minoring in sociology. Motivated and dynamic Psychology undergraduate with a strong foundation in interpersonal communication, leadership, and creative problem-solving. Experienced in educational content creation, teaching, and research with a passion for supporting diverse learners and promoting mental well-being. Hi everyone! My name is Sruti Mohankumar and I am currently a senior here at Texas A&M, expecting to graduate Fall 2025. My overarching research interest lies in improving the lives of marginalized and minority communities by identifying the systemic, cultural, and psychological barriers that hinder their well-being. I am also interested in exploring effective, evidence-based interventions that can be implemented to support these populations. I hope to attend graduate school and ultimately become a therapist with a specialized focus on serving minority populations, especially the South Asian community. In my free time, I love to spend time with my dog and my family. I also like to cook and read true crime books!

Howdy! My name is Eva Marez, and I am 2nd year student who is pursuing a double degree in Psychology (B.S.) and Forensics and Investigative Sciences (B.S.) Pre-Law emphasis. I joined the moral development lab because I love working with children and am eager to gain knowledge from the experience of being a part of this lab. In my free time, I enjoy reading while listening to music and baking for my friends and family.
Mya Arredondo is a junior at Texas A&M University majoring in psychology with a minor in business. She joined the Moral Development Lab to support her community and gain experience conducting interviews in Spanish. Through this role, she hopes to deepen her research skills and collaborate with peers and mentors in a meaningful way. Mya plans to pursue a master’s degree in psychology and a career in counseling, focusing on children, adolescents, and underserved communities with an emphasis on mental health and family dynamics. In her free time, she enjoys playing sand volleyball, spending time with friends, and trying new recipes in the kitchen.
Howdy! My name is Jana Yip and I am a second year undergraduate student pursuing a Psychology B.S. degree here at Texas A&M. I joined the Moral Development lab because of my interest in Child Psychology and Development. I hope to deepen my knowledge in this field and gain experience in research. Howdy! My name is Skylar Sonnier (she/her), and I am a junior psychology major at Texas A&M University. I joined the Moral Development Lab because I am interested in how family dynamics influence moral development, as well as in gaining hands-on research experience. My long-term goal is to become a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and work as a mental health therapist specializing in trauma and addiction.
Ashley is a Junior Psychology major at Texas A&M University. She plans to go to grad school to get her Master’s in Clinical Psychology. She wants to get her LPC in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with a focus on depression, anxiety, and trauma in adolescence and young adults. She enjoys listening to music, going on hikes, and sports cars
