Hi, I'm Brian Ko, a PhD student in Dr. McShane's lab working on optical monitoring of analytes like oxygen and glucose related to chronic conditions! I was born in Dallas and grew up on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and earned my bachelor's degree in biological engineering from Mississippi State University. Outside of the lab, I enjoy watching sports, attempting to cook, and listening to music.
Hey, I’m Jared, a graduate student in Dr. Taylor Ware’s lab developing volumetric additive manufacturing processes for rapid bioprinting! I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA and Raleigh, NC, where I attended NC State for my undergrad in Materials Science & Engineering. When I’m not poking around the lab, you’ll likely find me out on a hike, stress-watching a Steelers game, or chasing my dog away from mud puddles at the park.
Hi I'm Elizabeth Bullard, a PhD student in the Biomedical Engineering department. I earned my B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Arkansas in May 2021. My undergraduate research explored the use of a miniaturized diffuse reflectance probe to quantify hemoglobin content and oxygenation in mice with ulcerative colitis. I currently work in collaboration with the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine to develop a near-infrared fluorescence microendoscope to detect nanoparticles in colorectal cancer. On the side, Elizabeth enjoys reading, cooking, and educating the younger generations on the beauty of bioengineering.
Hello! I am Linghao Hu, a graduate student in Dr. Alex Walsh's lab working on the development of fluorescence lifetime imaging technique for identifying and predicting cellular metabolic perturbations. I am trying to develop a label-free fluorescence lifetime imaging technique to identify and predict cellular metabolic variations. I am going to obtain NADH and FAD fluorescence lifetime features, and corporate with a machine-learning algorithm to predict cellular metabolic perturbations. I earned my B.S and M.S at Tianjin University and in the future I plan to continue translational research in an industry or national lab setting. Outside of the lab, I enjoy playing basketball, watching movies, sports, and traveling.
Hello! My name is Melody Yeh and I am an undergraduate student in Dr. Walsh's quantitative optical imaging lab, assisting graduate students and other undergraduate students with their projects. I am a prospective biomedical engineering student and outside of the lab, I enjoy swimming, crocheting, and traveling!
