Are you an undergraduate student with at least 2 years left at TAMU? Are you interested in invoking change within the Gulf ecosystem? The TAMU Gulf Scholars Program is a 2-year program in which students immerse themselves in understanding the challenges of the Gulf ecosystem. The TAMU GSP is open to ALL majors!
- Phase 1 (First Year) becoming thought leaders on Gulf issues through a learning community.
Gulf Scholars can earn up to $2,000 by participating in a number of Learning Community activities including:
GSP approved coursework at TAMU
Gulf-focused Book Club discussions
Gulf Movie Nights
Participate in Local Field Trips
GSP approved seminars
Community Outreach
Additionally, two Gulf Scholars who successfully complete Phase 1 will be selected for a paid 10-week summer internship through Texas Sea Grant. The internship would be the summer between phase 1 and 2.
- Phase 2 (Second Year) becoming change agents through community integration and Gulf Scholars Projects.
Gulf Scholars who successfully completed Phase 1 can earn up to $3,000 by:
Completing a Gulf Impact Project under the supervision of 2 GSP faculty from a STEM and Humanities discipline.
Attend and present at the national GSP Conference (travel covered by GSP program)
Present at the virtual GSP Fall Forum.
