The TAMU eNGAGE (Next Generation of Advocates for the Gulf Ecosystem) Gulf Scholars Program (GSP) approaches the Gulf as a holistic “ecosystem” integrating human and environmental systems shaped around the three pillars of justice, sustainability, and resilience. Through the convergence of social sciences, natural sciences, humanities, and arts, eNGAGE students develop the knowledge, mindsets, and skills to:
- describe and analyze the state of the Gulf ecosystem and its systemic complexity.
- frame and assess the Gulf challenges as justice, sustainability, and resilience problems.
- explore potential future states of the Gulf land, water, and communities ranging from business-as-usual to non-intervention scenarios to desired future states, and assess their respective contributions to justice, sustainability, and resilience.
- construct a shared vision centered on justice, sustainability, and resilience.
- develop strategies that allow for just, sustainable, resilient transitions
