For much of my career, I identify as a researching practitioner rather than a professional researcher or even a higher education professional. Research is fun, challenging, and hopefully, impactful. My aim (pun intended) is to combine scholarship and practice, with each domain informing the other.

As an emerging researcher, I develop and maintain my sense of inquiry. One of my dissertation committee members acknowledged my 'sense of inquiry'. I was instantly affirmed. This one little compliment has been foundational to my career and institutional transition into the academic side of a university. My Center for Teaching Excellence team at Texas A&M University values educational research because of the credibility that can be gained and the power that comes with contributing to our field of educational development.

My transition into academic affairs in 2018 has encouraged an ambitious dream: 50 publications before I turn 50. Be brave. Oh, and to be clear - newsletter publications do not count!

To achieve this goal, I have varied and emerging research interests. Student affairs (mainly my mascot and sportsmanship) research continues in my spare time now that other interests in Center for Teaching Excellence (interdisciplinary, graduate education, mentoring) are taking shape!
