These are plasticine models of the shape and form of the main body of a poppy seed head.

This drawing is from the plasticine models.

I used white pencil on black sugar paper. I chose these media as I could simplify what I was seeing and concentrate on the main forms and not any surface details.

Breaking down the shapes and forms

Support structure. Separate curved legs joining in the centre.

The inside section is a curved cup form. It does not have a flat base so it needs the support structure to stand up.

Faceted surface with separate flattened sections or a rounded surface all the way round. the texture is smooth to the touch.
