My chosen starting point is seed pods.
To start with, I looked at different types of seed pod and drew them with normal drawing pencil.
I then decided to focus on poppy seed heads for my starting point drawings.
This drawing is produced with Indian Ink
There is a rounded main body which is ribbed and creates sections.
The stem is a slim cylinder that is larger at the top where it bulges out.
The surface is not smooth and the top section has deep holes down into the pod where the seeds came out.
This image is created with Acrylic Paint.
The tones of green and yellow and varied across the surface of the pod.
The ribbed sections have darker outlines.
There is texture on the top, both on the yellow leaves and the brown centres.
This drawing has been done with coloured pencils.
The ridges are more pronounced as the pod gets older.
The top section is raised up on a series of vent holes down into the pod.
These vent holes also have ridges that line up with the ones on the main body.
This drawing is done with black pen.
The top section is made up of a series of "leaves" that radiate out from the centre.
These leaves have texture on the surface which is raised up along the centres of each individual leaf.
This is my presentation to the class about my observational drawings.
